Patrick J Mitchell is a published award winning photographer from New York now living in Lexington. Trained in photography at Kentucky State University and The Photography Institute. Specializing in Actors Headshots and Weddings in the US and abroad. Expanding his horizons to journalism he was the lead photographer with "The Lextropolis" (A monthly magazine focusing on the African American community,  their events and issues in the urban area) and has shot for such organizations as The NAACP, The People's Campaign, The Legacy Ball and The Bluegrass Community Foundation. 

He has been published in The Lexington Herald Leader, The Anthology of Appalachian Poets and a new Anthology inspired by Sonia Sanchez. He also has had works displayed in the "The Good Grey Project" for the Imaginarium of The Bluegrass, the Scott County NAACP art exhibit "Contemporary Expressions" at the Arts and Cultural center in Georgetown, The Lyric Theater, Base110 and The Downtown Arts Center as a part of The Gallery Hop. 

Commissioned by the international organization Stepping Together in 2014 to document a 5 day medical mission in Tanzania, Africa. They were offering free Cervical Cancer Screenings in Lindi at the Nani Nani festival. 

Additionally the lead photographer with the award winning project "I Was Here" I Was Here - Lexington is an artistic collaboration between poet Nikky Finney, artist Marjorie Guyon and photographer Patrick J. Mitchell. The project embodies the precious work of looking at, looking behind and looking ahead to honor the past and plant a vision in the heart of America. The mission of this project is to bring healing to a divided Country. The cure is to be applied where the wound occurred.
